Greater Downtown Richmond is comprised of several areas, including a once thriving economic business entertainment hub in the ’40s, which is now championed by the Richmond Main Street Initiative. Their mission is to bring economic vitality, improved landscaping, and new businesses and services to the area. Richmond has the Bay Area’s only multimodal transit hub with connections to Bart, Amtrak, and AC Transit. Nearby 23rd Street is the hub of Richmond’s vibrant Latino Business District with a variety of locally owned restaurants, bodegas and bakeries, and is the main sponsor of Cinco de Mayo Festival. Points of interest in Greater Downtown include the stunning East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, Richmond History Museum, Richmond Art Center, Municipal Auditorium, and Public Art program, and NIAD Art Center.
